1. Channel Niche and Monetisation

YouTube will automatically monetise your YouTube channel when you hit 1000 Subscribers. You need to make sure that your channel hasn’t breached too many of the YouTube policies such as copyright infringements in order to be monetised.

To get your channel monetised you need:

  • 4000 Hours of watch time;
  • 1000 subscribers.

As a YouTube video creator at the beginning of your jouney this is probably your initial focus. It’s pretty cool to get to 1000 subscribers and to be someone that earns money from your channel.

I got monetised in May 2019 and published a video at the end of July that was a timelapse of a 1 year beard growth video. This might sound bizarre to some people but my channel was initially focussed on Beards.

It’s always good to have a niche on YouTube.
